You already know that people are texting more than ever, BUT data released by the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association shows us just how much more.

Key points…

• We’re sending about 224 million person-to-person text messages a day

• In the first 9 months of 2011 we had already sent 57 billion text messages…surpassing the total messages sent during the entire year of 2010 (56.4 billion). AND we’re blowing 2009 out the water (35.3 billion)!

• Wondering how popular Short Code texting is in Canada? In the 3rd quarter of 2011 Canadians sent & received a whopping 711.9 million messages to/from short codes. That represents a 27% increase over the same quarter in 2010.
